Why Massage the Front Torso?

Chest, Breast, and abdominal Massage

You may have never thought of your chest and abdomen when you thought about massage, but it is a significant area of tension that we do a disservice to your system as a whole by not addressing. Like everywhere else in your body, on some level it's all connected.

For instance, muscles that connect to the front of your ribs come from your neck and abdominals, pec muscles connect to your shoulder blade and arms, abdominal muscles connect to your ribs and back, etc. Massage of the front torso can help reduce localized pain and tension from these areas.

Your chest and abdomen are a large part of your body that is not usually addressed in traditional western massage. Working these areas help connect you to your body as a whole.

Chest & Breast Massage

Chest and breast massage addresses the underlying muscles of your chest, and the connective tissue, and lymphatics of your breast. Our goal here is to bring awareness, create ease and relaxation, reduce pain and tension, and increase lymph movement.

Addressing breast tissue of all genders can help reduce the discomfort of bra wearing, binding, and general breast pain. You can receive a chest massage that addresses underlying muscle and its connections without receiving a breast massage. This will give us the opportunity to make connections to your body, and create some space and ease. Whether we are doing chest only or chest and breast massage, there are many ways to drape/cover so you feel safe and can receive the bodywork that matches your treatment goals.

If you bind this type of massage can help assist with tenderness, pain, swelling, reduced range of motion, and shortness of breath that can be experienced if you bind regularly.

Abdominal Massage

Your tummy has gut feelings and butterflies, you might have a nervous bladder or bowels, and some of us experience menstrual cramps. If your work requires you to sit for long periods of time (desk, driving, etc) your stomach is constantly crunched up (so is your chest!), some people experience digestion issues and abdominal or pelvic pain from this stuck position.

Abdominal massage can be incredibly relaxing for an area that can feel, and hold so much of our stress and anxieties.

Abdominal massage can also help reduce muscle tension when considered as part of the whole. T
he muscles front of your ribs come from your neck and abdominals, pec muscles connect to your arms, abdominal muscles connect to your back, etc. Chest and abdominal massage encourages relaxation, reduces localized pain as well as tension from these areas, and can help improve digestion.. We can also create space and relaxation in your gut to improve digestion and reduce pelvic discomfort with lymph drainage.
